Following the complete overhaul of the powertrain in the previous model, the focus of our 11th electric race car is on improving its reliability in order to increase testing time and thus the time available for ESC tuning. This, along with a further reduction in vehicle weight, should ensure that the full potential of the existing vehicle platform can be exploited.
The EDGE16's innovations are also entirely focused on lightweight construction. In particular, the steering system, which is made of CFRP components wherever possible, the very lightweight front hoop, and the redesigned battery are all intended to reduce the vehicle's weight. Furthermore, a fully functional driverless system is being used for the first time.
